Our client is the largest retail shop chain in the United States, founded in the 1960s. The company is headquartered in Arkansas, USA. In 2022, it generated over $500bn in revenue. It operates in countries such as the US, Mexico, Canada, China, Japan, the UK, India, Brazil, and South Africa.
Their mission revolves around making everyday shopping convenient and accessible for people worldwide. They aim to offer a wide range of high-quality products at competitive prices, catering to diverse customer needs and preferences.
Routine tasks such as data collection and inventory management took up much time and resources. The client did not have a single platform to manage all aspects of their marketplace, resulting in inconsistency and decreased productivity. They could not also collect and analyse product data in real-time, making it difficult to make informed decisions and optimise their marketplace strategy.

Throughout the project, we optimised data collection processes using Node.js and Golang services. We implemented Vue.js for the front end to ensure a seamless user experience. Additionally, we integrated BigQuery for in-depth data analysis and Kafka for reliable data queuing.
These decisions resulted in a robust platform that empowered the client to manage products and analyse data more effectively, ultimately driving business growth.

NodeJS is an open source platform built on JavaScript that is ideal for building scalable, high-performance web applications. NodeJS is asynchronous, which makes it an ideal choice for applications where large amounts of data need to be processed.
Golang
Golang is a programming language that has high performance and memory efficiency. Golang was chosen to develop some services where high performance was required.
PostgreSQL
PostgreSQL is a robust, scalable and relational open source database. It has a rich feature set, such as JSONB support, which was essential for this project.
BigQuery
BigQuery is a cloud-based data warehouse from Google that enables efficient processing of large amounts of data. BigQuery was chosen because of its ability to process large amounts of data quickly and scalably.
Kafka
Kafka is an open source distributed messaging system. Kafka was chosen to provide reliable and scalable data transfer between different components of the system.
We chose the Scrum methodology to ensure effective project management, guaranteeing high speed of development, quality and customer satisfaction. It involves developing the product in short iterations (sprints), which allows the team to regularly demonstrate intermediate results to the client and receive feedback to adjust the next steps.
Computools was selected through an RFP process. They were shortlisted and selected from between 5 other suppliers. Computools has worked thoroughly and timely to solve all security issues and launch as agreed. Their expertise is impressive.
